The horn plays an important role in Turkey. While honking is often seen as an insult in Germany, in Turkey it is mostly used to draw attention to oneself. Honking is even required when overtaking. It is also advisable to honk in curves to warn oncoming vehicles.
Trucks are often overloaded and drive very slowly. Only overtake them on straight, clear stretches to avoid danger. In rural areas, donkeys, goats, or other animals can block the roadway. Do not honk as the animals are often unimpressed. Move forward carefully and slowly to ensure that no animal is injured.
With defensive driving, you should not have major problems in Turkey. Drive with the motto "Nothing is impossible", watch out for potholes, suddenly appearing children or animals, and be especially careful at construction sites, which are not always well secured.
At night, you should be particularly careful as there is no "light duty" in Turkey. Many vehicles drive without lighting, which is especially dangerous on rural roads. Therefore, always drive in a way that allows you to brake at any time.
You can park almost anywhere unless it is expressly forbidden. The traffic signs are international and easy to understand. Do not park in no stopping or no parking zones, as the police react quickly and your vehicle could be towed or fitted with a parking claw.
In towns, you can drive 50 km/h, outside built-up areas 90 km/h, and on highways, the speed limit is 120 km/h. Seat belts are mandatory, but you do not need to carry a warning vest. The allowed blood alcohol limit must not exceed 0.5 per mille.
Accident sites must be secured with a warning triangle, which is placed visibly before and after the accident. Fines are moderate: For a speeding violation of 20 km/h, you pay about 70 euros, for illegal parking around 40 euros. If your vehicle is towed, the costs are higher, so it is smarter to park only in permitted zones.

Marmaris ist im Vergleich zu den größeren Städten wie Istanbul viel entspannter. Der Verkehr in der Stadt selbst ist überschaubar, aber sobald du dich Richtung Küste oder Berge begibst, macht ein Mietwagen richtig Sinn. Ich hab letztes Jahr bei „CarGo Marmaris“ gemietet, das lief alles ohne Probleme. Wenn du im Sommer fährst, denk daran, eine Klimaanlage im Auto zu haben, die brauchst du dort definitiv!
In Side selbst kann es manchmal schwierig sein, einen Parkplatz zu finden, vor allem in der Nähe der Altstadt. Aber die Straßen sind gut ausgebaut, und wenn du vorhast, auch die Umgebung zu erkunden, ist ein Mietwagen definitiv eine gute Idee. Tipp: Versuche, etwas außerhalb der Innenstadt zu parken und dann den Rest zu Fuß zu erkunden.

ich möchte heute meine Erfahrungen zum Thema Automieten in der Türkei mit euch teilen. Ich reise regelmäßig nach Alanya, Side, Belek, Antalya und Istanbul und habe dabei oft einen Mietwagen genutzt.
Das Mieten eines Autos in der Türkei ist relativ unkompliziert und bietet die Freiheit, das Land nach eigenem Tempo zu erkunden. Die Straßen in und um die touristischen Orte wie Alanya, Side und Belek sind gut ausgebaut und leicht zu befahren. Auch in größeren Städten wie Antalya und Istanbul kommt man mit dem Auto gut zurecht, obwohl der Verkehr in Istanbul manchmal herausfordernd sein kann.
Die Mietpreise variieren je nach Saison und Anbieter, sind aber insgesamt erschwinglich. In der Nebensaison kann man in Orten wie Side und Alanya oft schon ab 20-30 Euro pro Tag ein Auto mieten. In der Hauptsaison oder in größeren Städten wie Antalya und Istanbul können die Preise höher liegen, oft zwischen 40-60 Euro pro Tag. Es lohnt sich, Preise zu vergleichen und eventuell im Voraus online zu buchen, um bessere Angebote zu erhalten.

Von Alanya aus sind beispielsweise die Damlataş-Höhlen oder die Burg von Alanya leicht zu erreichen. Von Side und Belek aus kann man bequem Tagesausflüge nach Aspendos oder zu den Wasserfällen von Manavgat unternehmen. In Antalya bietet sich ein Besuch des historischen Stadtteils Kaleiçi oder des berühmten Düden-Wasserfalls an. Und in Istanbul gibt es ohnehin unzählige Sehenswürdigkeiten, die man flexibel mit dem Auto erkunden kann.

Hallo ihr Lieben,
wir sind jedes Jahr mindestens zweimal in der Türkei, entweder in Alanya. Belek oder Side, und mieten immer ein Auto. Es ist absolut unproblematisch, in der Türkei Auto zu fahren. Wir haben schon viele Kilometer zurückgelegt und genießen es, selbst zu fahren, anzuhalten, wo und wann wir wollen. Einmal waren wir sogar im Skigebiet Saklıkent – es war wunderschön, aber am 3. Januar lag leider zu wenig Schnee zum Skifahren.
Tankstellen gibt es in großer Zahl, allerdings ist das Benzin sehr teuer.
Die Mietwagenpreise in Alanya, Side, Belek, Antalya oder Istanbul variieren, sind aber erschwinglich. Da wir immer bei derselben Firma mieten, bekommen wir stets einen Sonderpreis.
Also, keine Sorge, einfach ausprobieren!

ich reise dieses Jahr zum achten Mal nach Side. Ein Auto zu mieten in Side habe ich mich bisher nicht getraut! Einmal bin ich mit dem Taxi zum Flughafen gefahren, und der Fahrer ist in einem irrsinnigen Tempo über rote Ampeln gefahren. Die Türken haben einen sehr rasanten Fahrstil, daher bevorzuge ich den Dolmus! Zudem wäre ich bei den Mietverträgen vorsichtig.
Von Side nach Belek und auch nach Antalya zu kommen, ist mit dem Dolmus überhaupt kein Problem. Es ist auch nicht teuer.

ich habe heute eine Frage an alle, die sich mit Mietwagen auskennen: Hat jemand von euch schon einmal in der Türkei ein Auto gemietet? Wenn ja, wie waren eure Erfahrungen?
Ich war bisher zweimal in der Türkei und weiß, dass man mit dem Dolmus ziemlich gut vorankommt. Allerdings möchte ich diesmal von Side aus in Richtung Kemer und Belek fahren. In Antalya soll es auch einen Aquapark geben, der für die Kinder toll wäre! Soweit ich weiß, fährt in diese Richtung kein Dolmus.
Deshalb meine Fragen: Wie sind die Straßenverhältnisse in der Türkei? Wie ist der Fahrstil der anderen Verkehrsteilnehmer (ich habe beispielsweise in Tunesien nie ein Auto gemietet)? Wie gut ist das Tankstellennetz?
Ich wäre sehr dankbar für eure Antworten.
