On Monday, June 3, 2024, FTI Touristik GmbH, the parent company of the FTI GROUP, filed for the opening of insolvency proceedings (to the press release).

FAQs

Which providers and brands are affected?

In general, all services booked with the tour operator FTI Touristik GmbH are affected. This includes the brand FTI in Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands, the brand 5vorFlug in Germany, the BigXtra Touristik GmbH, as well as the car rental brands DriveFTI, Cars&Campers, and Meeting Point Rent-a-Car. Booked services of the mentioned operators are affected if they were booked through common travel agencies, on online booking platforms such as Check24, Ab-In-den-Urlaub, HolidayCheck, etc., or on our own platforms (fti.de, fti.at, fti.ch, fti.nl, 5vorflug.de, drive.de, ...).

Not affected are services booked with third-party providers (such as TUI, Alltours, DERTOUR, vtours, ...) that were booked through the portals of FTI Touristik GmbH or BigXtra Touristik GmbH as well as sonnenklar.TV.

Customers who have booked a cruise exclusively with BigXtra Touristik GmbH will be individually informed if it can be carried out.

Have you booked a package holiday and are you already on the way?

(Note: A package holiday is a combination of hotel stays and flights, possibly with additional booked services.)

Have you booked a package holiday with the operators FTI, 5vorFlug, or BigXtra and are you currently in or on your way to your destination? In your case, the statutory security protection by the German Travel Security Fund (DRSF) applies. In cooperation with the DRSF, we strive to ensure that you can complete your trip as planned. If this is not possible, a return trip to your original departure location will be organized for you. You will be contacted directly in this case by the DRSF service providers. You can also find information on the DRSF website.

If you booked a trip on the websites www.fti.de, www.fti.at, www.fti.ch, or www.5vorflug.de with a travel provider not belonging to the FTI GROUP – such as TUI, Alltours, DERTOUR, vtours, etc. – then you are not affected by the insolvency proceedings. Your travel provider can answer further questions directly.

Have you booked only a hotel and are you already on the way and/or checked in?

Have you booked hotel services exclusively with the operators FTI, 5vorFlug, or BigXtra and made payments directly to the respective operator? Unfortunately, individual services are not covered by the statutory security protection for package holidays and are therefore not secured by the German Travel Security Fund. However, we are checking – regardless of whether you are already checked in or still on the way – whether you can (continue to) use your booked services.

If you booked hotel services with a travel provider not belonging to the FTI GROUP – such as TUI, Alltours, DERTOUR, vtours, etc. – and paid directly to them, then you are not affected by the insolvency proceedings. Your travel provider can answer further questions directly.

Have you booked a package holiday or other travel services with a departure date or service date from Wednesday, June 5, to Monday, June 10, 2024?

Have you booked a package holiday or individual travel services (flight, hotel, transfers, excursions, ...) with the operators FTI, 5vorFlug, or BigXtra with a departure from June 5 to June 10, 2024? Unfortunately, we are legally forced to cancel these booked services.

If you have booked a package holiday, the security protection by the German Travel Security Fund (DRSF) applies in your case. The DRSF will ensure that your payments are refunded as part of its legal mandate. They will contact you as soon as all current travelers have been returned and the data has been evaluated and transferred.

(Note: A package holiday is a combination of hotel stays and flights, possibly with additional booked services.)

Unfortunately, individual services, such as only flights, only hotel stays, only transfers, or similar, are not covered by the statutory security protection for package holidays and are therefore not secured by the DRSF. We ask you to refrain from short-term refund requests, as these can only be organized in the coming days and weeks.

Have you booked a package holiday with departure from June 11, 2024?

Have you booked a package holiday with the operators FTI, 5vorFlug, or BigXtra with departure from Tuesday, June 11, 2024? We are currently doing our best to enable you to carry out your trip as planned. If this does not succeed, the security protection by the German Travel Security Fund (DRSF) applies in your case. The DRSF will then ensure that your payments are refunded as part of its legal mandate.

If you booked a trip on the websites www.fti.de, www.fti.at, www.fti.ch, or www.5vorflug.de with a travel provider not belonging to the FTI GROUP – such as TUI, Alltours, DERTOUR, vtours – then you are not affected by the insolvency proceedings. Have you booked only one or more hotel stays from June 11, 2024?

Unfortunately, individual services are not covered by the statutory security protection for package holidays and are therefore not secured by the German Travel Security Fund. We are currently checking whether you can still use the booked services and will contact you shortly.

Have you booked other individual services with FTI?

Have you booked other tourist services as individual services with FTI, such as excursions, airport transfers, or similar? Unfortunately, individual services are not covered by the statutory security protection for package holidays and are therefore not secured by the German Travel Security Fund. We are currently checking whether you can still use the booked services and will contact you shortly.
