Family-Friendly Airport (Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen – SAW)
Traveling with children via Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) is significantly more relaxed when distances are short and services work quickly: clear procedures, family-friendly infrastructure, and practical amenities make starting your vacation easier.
For parents, it is often the details that matter: Where is an easy place to change or nurse the baby? What is the best way to navigate the terminal with a stroller? Where can children play before boarding – and how can waiting times at checkpoints be reduced? This compact guide highlights helpful services at SAW – with official links for further planning.
Parking Near the Terminal
The multi-story car park is located directly opposite the terminal and is easily accessible on foot – ideal if you are arriving with children and luggage. Additionally, valet parking is available. Designated parking spaces are available on open and covered parking levels for passengers with reduced mobility.
More about parking | Tariffs & Conditions
Family Services in the Terminal
For families, the airport offers baby care/changing rooms and play areas for children (especially in the domestic departures area). The terminal is also easy to use with strollers – wide paths and elevators make orientation easier.
Fast Track: Less Waiting Time
If you are traveling with children and want to get through security quickly, the ALLWAYS Fast Track service can be useful. Priority access at selected points helps reduce waiting times – especially during peak hours.
Services for Passengers Over 65 and Persons with Reduced Mobility
Passengers requiring assistance (e.g., wheelchair service) should ideally request this in advance via the respective airline. On the day of travel, you will receive help via your airline's Special Passenger Services.
Wheelchair Service
If you require a wheelchair due to reduced mobility or health reasons, please submit a request via your airline early on. Upon arrival at the airport, please contact your airline's Special Passenger Services counter.
More about the service | Contact for assistance needs
Special Parking Regulations
Designated parking spaces for passengers with disabilities are available in the car park. Depending on the regulations, discounts may be available – please check the conditions on the tariff page for this.
Rest & Short Breaks: Kepler Resting Units
Behind passport control, you will find the Kepler Sleep Cabins / Resting Units – featuring rest and sleeping pods, showers, lockers, and family rooms (for those who wish to relax together).
Baggage Services
For additional protection, you can have your luggage wrapped at wrapping stations (usually on the departures level). Additionally, a paid Porter Service (assistance with luggage transport) is available at the terminal entrances.
All baggage services | Luggage wrapping (FAQ) | Porter Service (FAQ)
Internet & Charging
Free Wi-Fi is available at the airport – helpful for checking boarding info, staying in touch with family, or bridging waiting times with children more easily.
Arrival & Transport
Metro (Line M4)
The airport is accessible by metro: The M4 line (Kadıköy – Sabiha Gökçen Airport) is in operation. The station has three entrances: (1) CIP Interior & Car Park, (2) Airport Hotel, (3) Terminal.
HAVABUS Shuttle
HAVABUS connects SAW directly with central points of the city (Kadıköy and Taksim). Departures take place on the arrivals level near the terminal exits.
Taxi
Taxis are available around the clock (24/7). Contact details for the airport taxi service can be found on the official site.
Other Options
Furthermore, public bus lines, shuttle services (including HAVAIST on selected routes), and car rental providers are available.

10.11.2025Hey there I’m flying with SunExpress from London Gatwick to Antalya next week. Do I really need to print my boarding pass or can I just show it on my phone?

09.11.2025Hi everyone, I’ll be traveling with SunExpress and bringing my fishing rods. Do I drop them off at normal baggage or special luggage?

09.11.2025Hey everyone
I’m flying out from Manchester to Antalya next week with TUI Airways. I’ve done online check-in (got my boarding passes already) — but I’m not sure when I should actually show up at the airport. Do I still need to be there 3 hours before, or can I chill a bit since I’ve already checked in?
Cheers,
MarkJ

08.11.2025With SunExpress, you can check in online 36 hours before the flight — but if you’ve got sports gear or extra baggage, you must still go to the special luggage desk. I once carried scuba gear; it needed manual tagging.

08.11.2025Yup – I travel with Titan Airways for my company charters. They open counters about 3 h before take-off and close strictly 45 min before. Online check-in doesn’t change that because passports still get manually checked.

08.11.2025Hi Mark!
I flew last month with TUI to DLM – they still recommend 2½ to 3 hours before departure, especially on weekends. Even if you’re checked in online, bag-drop lines can be huge. Once I arrived just 90 min before and it was too close for comfort!

08.11.2025Namaste I’m flying from Manchester to Antalya next week. Is there a way to add extra luggage weight online before check-in?

07.11.2025Hey, just saying – if you’re flying during summer, give yourself extra time. I got stuck in a 45-minute queue at security in Gatwick – nothing to do with the airline, just chaos. Even though I’d checked in online, I was running to the gate

07.11.2025For TUI and Jet2 flights, there’s Self Bag Drop now in some UK airports – super easy if you’ve checked in online. But you still need to be there early because bag drop closes 60 min before departure. Don’t risk it – Antalya gates can be far!

05.11.2025I had a night flight to Antalya and was worried about safety & taxis — but it was totally fine! I booked an airport transfer via Travelassistant24.com, fixed price, English-speaking driver, smooth service and cheaper than random taxis outside.

01.06.2024Is it really true that you are not allowed to import stones or sand from Turkey into Germany? I'm going on vacation soon and a friend told me so, but is that really true?
Why?

01.06.2024Hello, our tour operator informed us that they will pick up us 5 hours earlier for the return flight transfer to . The drive from Side to takes just over an hour. When I complained, the representative told me that they drive to several hotels and therefore had to pick us up early. Well, if I have booked a shuttle transfer I have to accept it willy-nilly :(
We have now decided to take a private transfer from our hotel to Istanbul Airport. Which transfer company can you recommend to me? And what would such a transfer to the approximately cost?
