Today I want to tell you about one of my absolute favorite places in Antalya: Sandland Antalya! You know that feeling of being a kid building sandcastles? Well, Sandland is just like that—but these aren’t your ordinary sandcastles, they’re gigantic sculptures!

Whenever I’m in Antalya, I can never get enough of the sea, sand, and sun trio—but Sandland offers something completely different. It’s Turkey’s first and only international sand sculpture museum, and honestly, when you see it, you can’t help but say, “Wow!”

The Magical Beginning of Sandland: How Did It All Start?

Sandland isn’t that old. It all began in 2006 with the theme “Stories from Sand.” Can you imagine creating such stunning works of art using nothing but sand and water in an empty area? Since then, each year it opens its doors with a new theme, transporting us into a magical world. Themes like “Legends and Myths,” “Wonders of the World,” “Sea Creatures,” “Fantasy Beings,” and “Space Heroes” have been showcased. Each one is a masterpiece, crafted with skill and imagination!

Wondering how these sculptures are made? The secret lies in using specially selected sand that’s easy to mold and compress. And here’s the fascinating part—no glue or binding materials are used! Just sand and water. They truly look like miracles created by human hands. Sculptors work for days, sometimes weeks, to create these massive pieces. Imagine turning a pile of sand into a dragon, a pyramid, or a mermaid. It’s all about craftsmanship and patience!

The Sandland Experience: A Different Charm by Day and Night!

Visiting Sandland is a delight at any time of day. During daylight, you can admire every fine detail and craftsmanship up close. Even without lighting effects, it’s surprising how realistic they look.

But the real show starts in the evening! When the sun sets and the sculptures are lit up with special lighting, the entire atmosphere transforms.
